For a village of about 38,000 people, Estero has an outsized shopping scene. Two of Southwest Florida’s best-known retail destinations sit inside the village, Coconut Point on US-41 and Miromar Outlets at I-75 Exit 123, and two more regional centers, Gulf Coast Town Center and Bell Tower Shops, are a short drive north. Add a growing list of grocery stores, a seasonal farmers market and hundreds of restaurants within a few miles, and most residents rarely need to leave the area for anything.

This guide is the big-picture view: where each shopping area is, what it is best for, where to buy groceries, and how dining works around Estero. For our list of favorite local restaurants, see Estero restaurants; for deeper dives on each shopping center, follow the links in each section.

Coconut Point: Estero’s Main Street

Coconut Point opened on November 10, 2006, and is owned and managed by Simon Property Group. It is an open-air center of roughly 1.2 million square feet laid out like a small town, with a Mediterranean-style main street, lakes with a boardwalk, and a big-box power center on the south end. It is the closest thing Estero has to a downtown, and on winter weekends it is where much of the village shops, eats and goes to the movies.

Getting there is easy from anywhere in Estero: from I-75 take Exit 123 west on Corkscrew Road, then turn south on US-41; the center is on the left about a mile and a half down. Lee Health’s Coconut Point campus, with a freestanding emergency department, is right next door. Read the full Coconut Point guide.

Miromar Outlets: Brand-Name Bargains at Exit 123

Miromar Outlets sits on the east side of I-75 at Corkscrew Road, next to Hertz Arena and a short drive from Florida Gulf Coast University. Opened in the late 1990s and owned by Miromar Development Corporation, it is an open-air, Mediterranean-style center built around a lake, with covered walkways, fountains and lakeside dining. The current store directory lists about 100 tenants.

It is the go-to stop for warehouse shopping and big-box errands, and it is close to the airport and FGCU.

Bell Tower Shops, at US-41 and Daniels Parkway in South Fort Myers, is an open-air lifestyle center of about 365,000 square feet. Current tenants include Nordstrom Rack, The Fresh Market, a Regal cinema and Dave & Buster’s, with dining from The Capital Grille, Blue Point Oyster Bar, Tap 42 and McGregor’s Public House, plus a DoubleTree by Hilton hotel. New management took over in 2025 with plans to add new brands, so expect changes.

A Day of Shopping in Estero: Sample Itinerary

Visiting family, or new in town and want to get your bearings? Here is a relaxed one-day plan that hits Estero’s highlights without spending the whole day in traffic:

  1. Morning: start at Miromar Outlets when the stores open, while parking is easy and the walkways are shaded and cool. Grab a coffee at Starbucks and work through your list of brands.
  2. Late morning: stop at Norman Love Confections for chocolates to take home, then drive west on Corkscrew Road.
  3. Lunch: head to Coconut Point and choose anything from lobster rolls at Mason’s to a sit-down lunch at Joe’s Fresh Catch or Tony Sacco’s.
  4. Afternoon: walk Coconut Point’s main street and lakeside boardwalk, hit the Apple store or Nordstrom Rack, and pick up groceries at Super Target on the way out.
  5. Evening: catch a movie at Regal Coconut Point 16, or if the Everblades are home, drive back to Hertz Arena for a game and dinner at Miromar.

In season, flip the order on weekends: Coconut Point is calmer in the morning and Miromar is calmer on weekday afternoons.

Shopping and Dining Tips from Locals

Living Close to Shopping in Estero

Many buyers ask us which communities make it easiest to walk, bike or take a quick drive to shops and restaurants. Communities between US-41 and I-75, such as Meadows of Estero, Belle Lago and The Reserve at Estero, are minutes from Coconut Point. Homes near Corkscrew Road and Ben Hill Griffin Parkway, including Miromar Lakes and Copper Oaks, are close to Miromar Outlets, Gulf Coast Town Center and FGCU. Communities east of I-75 such as Verdana Village have newer shopping plazas nearby, including a Publix.

One more tip for new residents: many gated communities in Estero run shuttle trips, clubhouse dining or social outings to Coconut Point and Miromar, and several have on-site cafes or grills of their own. When you tour a community, ask the lifestyle director what is offered; it can change how often you actually need to drive for a meal or a quick errand.

Proximity to shopping can be a plus for daily convenience and for resale, but it can also mean more traffic noise and congestion in season. We are happy to help you weigh those trade-offs for a specific home. Start with Estero homes for sale or compare communities on our gated communities page.
